Mohali, renamed as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (S.A.S Nagar) is a city adjacent to Chandigarh; it is officialy named after the eldest son of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Mohali, along with Chandigarh and Panchkula, forms the Chandigarh-Tricity. It was earlier a part of the Ropar (Roopnagar) district, and was carved out into a separate district in April, 2006. Mohali (S.A.S. Nagar) is the first planned city of Punjab and recently been given status of Corporation. It is now emerging as major center of Technical Education, Health services, Sports and as I.T. Hub of North India. The city is preferred choice of retired and working employees.

 

Mohali Senior Citizens Association (MSCA) came into existence on 3rd March, 2007, with the inspiration of Late Sh P.H.Vaishnav former Chief Secretary of Punjab and President, Chandigarh Senior Citizen’s Association. It was formally launched by Cap. Kanwaljit Singh, Cooperation Minister of Punjab on May 13, 2007. Dr. Amarjit Singh Khehra, former Vice Chancellor, Punjab AgriculturebUniversity, Ludhiana, was its Founder President and now is its Chairman. MSCA also played key role in formation of Federation of Senior Citizens Associations, Punjab (FEDSEN-Punjab). At present the association has 1500 life members from all walks of life. To encourage women, their membership subscription has been decreased by 50%.

Mohali Senior Citizens Association was established to provide common platform for promoting brotherhood, creating atmosphere for active and healthy life and earning respect through selfless service to the society. The activities include regular Bimonthly Meetings, Picnics, Health Care Awareness Programme, Free Medical Service on every Wednesday, periodic Free Medical Camps, Visits and Financial Contribution to Orphanage, Destitute and Charitable Homes. Strengthening of Intergeneration Bonds and Counseling our Multipurpose Centre provides daily facilities for indoor games, library, internet access besides regular computer training. The annual activities being organized include Celebration of Foundation Day, Senior Citizens Day, P. H. Vaishnav Memorial Seminar and Sports Competition.
